Founder, Biz Kids Academy
Captain Brian Janeway, Ph.D., founded Biz Kids Academy because he saw something missing in the way young people are being prepared for the future. After a lifetime of leadership in aviation, global travel, academic research, and real-world decision-making, he realized that kids today need more than traditional schoolwork—they need business skills, financial confidence, AI literacy, communication, emotional intelligence, and practical life skills that will guide them through every stage of their lives.
Brian has invested in multiple ventures over the years, worked with diverse teams around the world, and seen firsthand how success in any field—aviation, business, technology, research—comes down to the same foundation: confidence, curiosity, problem-solving, integrity, and real-world thinking. Biz Kids Academy was built to teach exactly that.
Kids instantly connect with Brian—especially when he walks into classrooms dressed like Indiana Jones, turning history, science, and life lessons into unforgettable adventures. Parents connect with him because they can feel the leadership, calm confidence, and genuine care behind every interaction.
Education is woven into Brian’s family story. His sister is a beloved drama teacher in Sarasota who produces inspiring student performances every year. Brian attends whenever he can, celebrating creativity, discipline, and the magic of learning—values he brings into every Biz Kids experience.
Through years of visiting schools across the country, teaching history, leadership, and curiosity-driven exploration, Brian saw the same need everywhere:
kids grow fastest when they’re taught real-world skills in ways that feel exciting, practical, and connected to their future.
Brian was born in Cleveland, Ohio, attended public schools, and graduated from the University of Kentucky, where he studied political science. Driven by a calling to serve, he joined Air Force ROTC and entered the United States Air Force in 1983.
He completed elite pilot training, mastering the T-37 and the supersonic T-38, performing high-G maneuvers and advanced fighter tactics. He later flew the RC-135, conducting reconnaissance missions during the Cold War across global hotspots. These missions demanded discipline, teamwork, calm thinking, and precision—skills he now teaches young people in a relatable, empowering way.
After serving his country, Brian began a distinguished 34-year career with American Airlines, flying the Boeing 727, 757, 767, and ultimately becoming a Captain on the Boeing 777, piloting international routes. The qualities that define a captain—responsibility, leadership, situational awareness, and care for others—are the same qualities he instills in Biz Kids students.
At the same time, Brian pursued his lifelong passion for learning. Fascinated by history and archaeology, he earned a master’s degree from Wheaton College, began excavations in Israel, and then completed his Ph.D. at the University of Toronto, conducting research at a major site in Turkey near ancient Antioch. He has authored a scholarly book and numerous peer-reviewed academic articles and continues to participate in conferences and educational institutions worldwide.
Every chapter of Brian’s life—military service, aviation leadership, global travel, business investing, and academic research—reinforced one truth:
Young people become unstoppable when they are given real-world knowledge early in life.
Biz Kids Academy reflects Brian’s vision to equip children with the tools he believes every young person deserves:
Brian founded Biz Kids Academy to help kids discover their confidence, build practical skills, and step into their futures with courage and capability.
Parents trust him because he brings a lifetime of leadership, integrity, and proven excellence.
Kids love him because he makes learning feel bold, exciting, and alive.
Captain Brian Janeway, Ph.D., created Biz Kids Academy to inspire the next generation to think boldly, dream confidently, and grow into capable young leaders prepared for the world ahead.
